A Note on Timing

Dock contractors in Muskoka are among the busiest seasonal trades in Ontario. Spring installation slots typically fill up by mid-April — often earlier for premium lake communities like Port Carling, Windermere, and Minett.

Fall removal windows are tighter. Most Muskoka municipalities require docks out before the first hard freeze — typically mid to late October. Once ice forms, removal becomes exponentially harder and more expensive.

  • Spring: Request your quote before the ice goes out — ideally February or March
  • Fall: Book fall removal by late September at the latest
  • New builds: Plan 4–8 weeks for permits and contractor scheduling
Feb–Mar Book spring installation — best availability
Apr–May Ice-out + dock installations begin
Jun–Aug Repair season — mid-summer assessments
Sep–Oct Fall removal — book by late September
Nov–Jan Off-season planning + new dock quotes
